Hello Wefunder Investors,
We’ve now concluded the twelfth month since the WeFunder second round financing was successfully completed. As in previous months, I wanted to provide you with an update on the many things happening with our OodlesDeals mobile app, and overall at the company.
Summer Frenzy Update #2
As I mentioned in the July ’18 monthly WeFunder report, every member of the OodlesDeals team — Product Development, Engineering, Sales & Marketing — are working with an accelerated sense of urgency this summer, to substantially grow company revenue beyond already achieved levels, when the new school year begins.
Planning for multiple new school launches, faster vendor sign-ups via a no-risk proposition to restaurants, and an updated version of the OodlesDeals app that makes it even clearer for our users to transact via the app, are the high priority projects occupying the majority of the team’s time this summer.
I will go into deeper detail in each of these three areas over the course of the summer. In last month’s update, I focused on the product development activities. In this month’s update, I will talk about two of the new schools the OodlesDeals marketing team is in imminent stages of launch planning.
UC - Berkeley / Loyola University To Launch Imminently
Both UC - Berkeley and Loyola University start school in the next couple of weeks, and the OodlesDeals marketing team is in final stages of launch planning at each location. Pizza restaurants, Mexican restaurants, Gourmet Sandwiches, just to name a few, will be on the OodlesDeals app at time of launch.
Berkeley represents a significant market, not only are there 40k+ students on campus, but the University is in close proximity to the city of Oakland. Loyola University is less than five miles away from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, another of the Universities where the OodlesDeals app is available. Students, and by extension, general consumers living between Loyola and Northwestern will be able to enjoy the scorching deals available in-between both campuses.
As such, while OodlesDeals marketing activities are specifically targeted at college students, UC - Berkeley and Loyola University represent a unique opportunity for awareness and usage of the app to extend to users beyond the college student demographic.
I will provide more details on both launches in next month’s update.
Accepting An Invitation To A Scorching Deal Just Got A Lot Easier
In last month’s WeFunder update, I described the four main areas of improvement around the creation, visibility and usability of Badges on the OodlesDeals app. If you download the updated iOS version of the OodlesDeals app, you can see these improvements yourself. The Android version of the app will be updated shortly.
While gaining and using a Badge by an OodlesDeals user was critical, the OodlesDeals Engineering team also made the process for someone who is invited by an OodlesDeals user to get a Badge much simpler. With just a click of a button, a recipient of an invitation from an OodlesDeals user can respond, saying “Yes” or “No” to the invitation, while getting a Badge themselves at the same time.
Please look at the attached photo to understand this newer and simplified process.
Simplifying Badge creation & usage for both the Inviter and Invitee(s) of an OodlesDeals deal should drive dramatic increase in user engagement of the OodlesDeals app this upcoming school year. As you know, this transaction process is a patented protected one, and is what makes the OodlesDeals app truly unique and added-value to use.
